Origins

Sulfator is a thrash metal band from Toulouse, France, evolving toward progressive and technical thrash, formed in 2013. After a five-year hiatus due to professional reasons, the band returned with a renewed lineup in 2020.

Musical identity & influences

In its early years, the band was primarily influenced by Annihilator, Testament and Megadeth, laying the foundations of its identity.

With its rebirth and new influences such as Vektor, Obscura and Opeth, Sulfator shifted toward a more progressive and technical direction. The band now blends complex compositions, aggressive riffing and progressive atmospheres, incorporating elements of black and death metal, alongside occasional soprano vocal passages.

THE GEMINI PROJECT – Concept album

Gemini is the debut full-length album by French progressive thrash metal band Sulfator. It’s a concept album exploring themes of duality, human augmented consciousness and dystopic stories. Conceived as a narrative journey rather than a collection of standalone songs, the album’s composition and concept evolve together, progressively intensifying the story.

Inspired by works such as Asimov’s Foundation, Attack on Titan and Neon Genesis Evangelion, GEMINI was written over four years and released in 2025. Since, it has been distributed worldwide, with physical and digital sales in Japan, USA, Canada, Chile, Brazil and Australia.
